The Evenstad Center for Wine Education at Linfield University offers a unique, comprehensive, and interdisciplinary approach to wine studies providing learners a foundation to launch or advance their careers.  We aspire to become an exceptional, globally recognized program developing future leaders of the wine industry.  Our core values include integrity, adaptability and innovation, diversity and inclusion, collaboration and resilience, and commitment to excellence.

THE FACILITY

Currently our programs are offered on the idyllic, private campus where Linfield University resides in the heart of the Willamette Valley in McMinnville, Oregon.  The valley boasts over 700 wineries making it Oregon’s leading wine region and is recognized globally as one of the premier Pinot noir-producing areas.

SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

There are numerous scholarship opportunities for Wine Studies learners that are available each year, mostly made by private donors and the Oak and Vine Society Linfield University Wine Club.

EARN YOUR BACHELOR’S DEGREE – WINE STUDIES MAJOR

Prepare for a dynamic global wine and hospitality career with a B.A. or B.S. in wine studies. With Linfield’s multidisciplinary approach, you’ll explore the history and culture of wine, study how grapes are grown and how wine is made, and learn about wine marketing strategies. Expand your knowledge and understanding of the history, culture, production, business, science and appreciation of wine! Through an interdisciplinary approach to our wine studies program, you will explore the cultural, social and economic significance of wine in Oregon and around the world. Complete the major feeling prepared for graduate studies in viticulture, enology or wine business, or ready to pursue a dynamic global wine and hospitality industry career.

MASTER OF SCIENCE IN BUSINESS – WINE BUSINESS LEADERSHIP

For passionate, ambitious professionals who want to expand, grow and develop as future leaders in the exciting global industry of wine. Cultivate your business skills with Linfield’s Master of Science in business. Whether or not you earned your undergraduate degree in business, our program is designed for critical thinkers, creatives and innovators. Join our School of Business faculty experts, visiting scholars and executives in residence to build strong skills in leadership, high-performing teams and emotional and cultural intelligence.

JOINT GRADUATE PROGRAM WITH EXOLE SUPERIEURE D’AGRICULTURE: EARN YOUR BACHELOR’S AND MASTER’S DEGREES IN FIVE YEARS

Through a unique partnership with Ecole Superieure d’Agriculture (ESA) in Angers, France, you can earn a bachelor’s and master’s degree in just five years. Students spend three years at Linfield University and two years at ESA, earning either a Bachelor of Arts or Science as well as an International Vintage Master.

Historical photoOREGON WINE HISTORY ARCHIVES

The Oregon Wine History Archive at Linfield University was created to collect, preserve, share and continue the narrative of Oregon wine. Everything on our site is freely available to researchers interested in Oregon wine history.

  • Our collection of nearly 500 oral history interviews with people throughout the Oregon wine industry allows viewers to hear the Oregon wine story told by the people who helped create it. Check back often, as we are always adding more!
  • Our regions page shows our digital collections from people, wineries, vineyards, businesses and organizations throughout the state.
  • Historical photographs, wine labels and photographs taken during our oral history interviews are available on our photos page.

The growth of the Oregon wine industry extends from the farmers and winemakers to the enterprise’s marketers, scientists, innovators and dreamers—all of whom are vital to the industry’s success. We aim to link the industry’s past, present and future to share the story of Oregon wine.

INTERNATIONAL PINOT NOIR CELEBRATION

The IPNC is a three-day event, famous around the globe, as a mecca for lovers of Pinot noir and northwest cuisine. Annually, the IPNC is hosted by Linfield and offers a unique, paid opportunity for wine studies students.
